About the game
Lantern drops you into a pitch-black meadow with a small lantern and a field full of fireflies. Every firefly you catch is a point, and it also makes your light bigger. A bigger light shows you more of the map, but everyone can see it from anywhere, and that makes you the obvious target.
Hold the dim button and your lantern goes out. You move a little slower and see only a few steps around you, but rivals see nothing more than a faint shimmer when you slip into their light. Touch a lit rival while dimmed and you steal half of their fireflies in a burst of light. Your meter only lasts four seconds, so pick the moment carefully.
Every three seconds all the fireflies pulse at once, a wave of light that sweeps the meadow and shows you where to go next. Rounds last two minutes, and in the final fifteen seconds every steal takes even more. Play against one to three computer opponents on three difficulty levels, right in your browser.

Questions
How do I steal fireflies in Lantern?
Hold dim so your lantern goes out, sneak up on a rival whose light is on and touch them. You take half of their fireflies, or 60% in the last 15 seconds. After a steal your light is forced on for two seconds.
How can I avoid being robbed?
Watch your light for a faint shimmer: that is a dimmed rival closing in. Run, or dim yourself. A dimmed player cannot be robbed.
Do the computer players cheat in the dark?
No. Bots only see what you could see: lit circles, their own small dim radius and the firefly pulse every three seconds.
Is Lantern free to play on mobile?
Yes. It runs in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers, with no download or sign-up.
