About the game

Inkblot is a fast territory battle on a sheet of paper. Every tap drops a blot of ink that spreads ring by ring until it runs dry. Hold your finger or mouse button down to charge a bigger blot. When the 60 seconds are up, whoever has covered the most paper wins.

Your ink tank refills on its own, so the real question is where to spend it. Blank paper is cheap. Fresh, glossy ink from a rival costs a little more to cover, and once it dries it becomes armored and costs four times as much. Strike while their ink is still wet, and keep your own edges safe until they dry.

In the last ten seconds your ink flows twice as fast, so a well-timed final splash can still flip the result. A match lasts just one minute, so there is always time for one more round. Play against one to three computer opponents on three difficulty levels, on your phone or on your computer.

How to play

  1. Tap or click to drop a blot of ink. Hold to charge a bigger one.
  2. Blots must start on blank paper or on your own ink, then they spread over anything they can afford.
  3. Blank paper costs 1 ink per cell, wet rival ink costs 2 and dry rival ink costs 4.
  4. Your tank refills by itself and twice as fast in the last 10 seconds. Most paper after 60 seconds wins.

Questions

Why does some ink cost more to cover?

Ink dries four seconds after it lands. Wet ink costs 2 per cell to cover and dry ink costs 4, so attack fresh blots and protect your own until they dry.

Should I tap or hold?

A tap spends 25 ink and is quick and precise. Holding for a second spends up to 75 ink in one big blot, which is great for claiming open paper or breaking through a rival edge.

Can I play Inkblot on my phone?

Yes. On a phone held upright the page turns to fit the screen, and every move is a simple tap or press.

Is Inkblot free?

Yes. It runs in your browser on desktop and mobile with no download or sign-up.
